PROFILE
I have a combined over 12 years academic and industry experience in a fast-paced technology environment, managing a variety of technology-related as well as engineering projects.
In addition to my MBET degree, I have a master's degree in civil engineering, specializing in engineering structures. My currents interests lie in business development, new product development and project management for companies in a high technology environment for a variety of industries through a thorough understanding of their technology, their marketplace, their customers and most importantly their people and their passion for creating something new and exciting and then putting that product in the hands of ordinary people.

In charge of the entire product development process for a $1m joint-venture between my company and another; the purpose of the joint-venture is to develop new fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) products for use in the construction projects. The benefits of FRP products are well known, and now, due to the advancement of technology, it is now possible to utilize these products in engineering construction. Three examples of products that were developed are:
- Laminated FRP strips for the strengthening and rehabilitation of bridges, garage parking, old masonry buildings, etc.
- Laminated FRP sheet piles for use in new construction to mitigate corrosion in harsh environments
- Laminated FRP pipes for use in micro-piles to utilize its better strength-to-weight ratio compared to aluminum or steel
- FRP thermal breaks to utilize the its insulation properties to resisting heat loss from buildings and other below-ground structures.
Team Focus:
- Coordination of the product design efforts which include communication, document preparation, while at the same time ensuring a customer and market focus between my company and our joint-venture partner
- Development of adequate documentation of all product development processes.
- Implement a stage-gate process to evaluate risks, opportunites and financial performance of each product
Technical Focus:
- Detailed technical analysis of the engineering properties and performance of the various products using industry established tools such as finite element analysis (FEA), and software simulation of proposed designs.
- Scheduling and supervision of the laboratory and field testing of products in accordance with various engineering standards, Canadian standards and codes
Market Focus:
- Carried out a detailed analysis of the market size, growth and risk areas for each product.
- Carried out a detailed competitor analysis, using PEST, SWOT, Diamond-E and Porter’s Five Forces of the engineering structural composite industry and various identified market segments.
- Carried out a detailed GAP analysis of both the internal and external resources of my company as well as its venture partner to determine resource needed for the new products.
- Developed a formal competitive intelligence program for my company, the program included an audit of all CI information sources, data gathering, documentation and analysis, patent analysis, trade show & conference intelligence, price and cost analysis and joint-venture activity on NPD efforts.
